Some new content on the Know Thy Tools.
cmd.exe: help and character completion
For some reason character completion is not enabled by default in the cmd.exe shell available on Windows. Fortunately it can be switched on as is described in the help page for cmd.exe. I have written a page on Know Thy Tools that describes how to get help for cmd.exe's commands and how to enable character completion.
TextMate: Editing multiple lines
I move away from the command line for the first time with a snippet of information on TextMate's column selection/edit mode. This is particularly useful if you need to replace or enter characters at the same location on multiple lines simultaneously. The example I give in the linked page is how to replace an * at the start of multiple lines with a #.
Google Group for Know Thy Tools
I have also created a Google Group for Know Thy Tools. I intend to use that Group as the discussion forum for the Know Thy Tools site. Feel free to join the group and post a question or provide feedback.
Know Thy Tools posts on this blog will hopefully run once a week. Although, that will depend on how much time I have to add content to the site.
Thanks for reading.
